MVU is proud to provide safe and reliable electricity to its customers. As a
municipally operated utility, MVU takes great pride in being a member of the
public power community model that is based on local control, a not-for-profit
motive, and a focus on giving back to the community we serve. Here are some
of the ways MVU serves the community.
MVU sponsors community events and provides information to all residents,
not just MVU customers. One of our primary responsibilities is to provide
incentives for business to locate within MVU service territory and employ
MoVal residents.
In an ongoing effort to promote a greener environment, MVU buys energy
generated from renewable sources like solar, water, and wind. MVU installed

a solar carport at City Hall and has plans to install an additional solar carport
at the City Annex.
Our electric utility does not partner with any shareholders, so resources are
reinvested directly into the community. MVU is part of your local government;
Utility business is presented at City Council meetings where residents are

free to participate. Resident volunteers also serve as Commission members
overseeing electric utility policy-making decisions and concerns.
The reinvestment takes the form of upgrades to infrastructure, programs
designed specifically for the needs of our customers, and friendly, in-
person service.
